Soy Ginger Steak Bites are a flavorful and quick dish featuring tender sirloin, strip loin, or ribeye steak pieces marinated in a savory soy and ginger sauce, then seared to perfection in a hot skillet. Perfect as a delicious appetizer or a main course, these steak bites are infused with garlic, brown sugar, and a hint of red pepper flakes for a subtle kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Marinade

  • 1 ½ pounds steak (sirloin, strip loin, or ribeye)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for marinade)

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Garnish (Optional)

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marinade and Steak: Combine the marinade ingredients including garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced ginger, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
  2. Marinate: Refrigerate the steak pieces in the marinade for 30 minutes up to 2 hours to allow flavors to infuse. When ready to cook, remove the steak from the marinade letting excess liquid drip off, then discard the remaining marinade.
  3. Preheat Skillet: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the pan and let it heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Cook Steak Bites: Place the steak pieces in a single layer in the skillet. Cook without stirring for 2 to 3 minutes to develop a good crust on one side. Then stir and cook for an additional 1 minute. Ensure not to overcook to keep the steak tender.
  5. Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and toss the steak bites with 1 tablespoon butter until melted and coating the meat. Optionally garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • To ensure even cooking, cut steak pieces uniformly in size.
  • Marinating longer (up to 2 hours) will enhance the flavor.
  • For spicier bites, increase the red pepper flakes slightly.
  • Use a cast iron skillet if available for better searing.
  • Serve with rice or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
