Tomato Basil Bruschetta with Balsamic Glaze

Crispy toasted baguette slices topped with marinated cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of rich balsamic glaze—this classic Italian appetizer is vibrant, refreshing, and easy to prepare.

  • 1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 1/2 cups cherry tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  2. Toast in the oven for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  3. In a bowl, combine diced cherry tomatoes, basil, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and let sit for 5 minutes to marinate.
  4. Spoon the tomato mixture onto each toasted bread slice.
  5. Drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving.
  6. Serve immediately as an appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Use heirloom or grape tomatoes for extra color and flavor variety.
  • Rub the toasted baguette with a raw garlic clove for added depth.
  • The tomato topping can be prepared in advance and chilled until ready to serve.
