Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb white mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups plum tomatoes, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: In a large nonstick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Cook the mushrooms: Add 1 pound of sliced white mushrooms to the skillet. Stir frequently and cook until the mushroom liquid begins to evaporate, about 6 minutes.
  3. Add remaining ingredients: Add 2 cups of coarsely chopped plum tomatoes, 1/2 cup of sliced green onions, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper to the skillet.
  4. Simmer the sauce: Bring the mixture to a simmer, cover the skillet, and cook for about 5 minutes until a flavorful sauce forms.
  5. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the fresh mushroom sauce hot over cooked pasta or alongside your favorite meats.

Notes

  • This versatile sauce works well with all types of meats and is especially ideal served over pasta.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more salt or pepper if desired.
  • For a richer taste, you can add a splash of cream or grated Parmesan cheese just before serving.
