Crisp toasted baguette slices topped with creamy mashed avocado and perfectly seasoned shrimp, garnished with herbs and chili flakes—a zesty, elegant appetizer full of flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for crostini)
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for shrimp)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush with olive oil, and toast for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  2. In a bowl, mash avocados with lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Toss shrimp with paprika, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Sear shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until opaque and slightly crispy.
  4. Spread a layer of avocado mash onto each crostini. Top with one seared shrimp.
  5. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and additional chili flakes if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use day-old baguette for extra crunch after toasting.
  • Avocado spread can be made a few hours ahead and kept with plastic wrap touching the surface to prevent browning.
  • Adjust chili flakes based on desired spice level.
  • For extra citrus flavor, add lime zest to the avocado mash.
