Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 box Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes (about 6 cakes)
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips (or your preferred melting chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional, to help melt chocolate smoothly)
  • Sprinkles (red, green, or other festive colors, for decoration)
  • Green food coloring (optional, for coloring the chocolate coating)

Instructions

  1. Crumble the Cake: Remove the Christmas Tree Cakes from the box and crumble them finely into a large mixing bowl using your hands or a fork. Aim for fine crumbs but no need to be perfect as they will combine with the chocolate.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat white chocolate chips in 30-second bursts, stirring each time until smooth and fully melted. Stir in vegetable oil if using, to make the chocolate silkier. Add green food coloring if you want a festive green coating, and mix well.
  3. Combine the Cake and Chocolate: Pour about half the melted chocolate over the cake crumbs and mix thoroughly until all crumbs are evenly coated and the mixture has a dough-like consistency. Add more melted chocolate if needed to achieve a rollable texture.
  4. Form the Cake Balls: Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized balls using your hands or a cookie scoop. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Dip the Cake Balls in Chocolate: Using a fork or toothpick, dip each cake ball into the remaining melted chocolate coating, ensuring full coverage. Tap off excess chocolate and return them to the parchment paper.
  6. Decorate the Cake Balls: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle festive sprinkles on top. Optionally, add edible glitter or mini candy canes for extra holiday flair.
  7. Chill and Set: Refrigerate the cake balls for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden completely before serving or gifting.

Notes

  • Chill the cake balls for 15 minutes before dipping to prevent them from falling apart.
  • Use a toothpick or fork when dipping to keep your fingers clean.
  • For a thicker, richer chocolate coating, double dip: after the first coat sets, dip them again.
