- 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2–4 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for beef)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons toasted pine nuts
- Fresh chopped parsley for garnish
- Warm pita bread, for serving
- Optional: plain yogurt with a drizzle of olive oil
- In a food processor, blend chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, olive oil, and salt until smooth.
- Add water gradually to achieve a creamy consistency. Set hummus aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
- Add ground beef, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked through.
- Stir in toasted pine nuts and remove from heat.
- Spread prepared hummus on a serving plate, creating a shallow well in the center.
- Spoon the warm beef mixture into the center of the hummus.
- Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately with warm pita bread and optional plain yogurt on the side.

- You can prepare the hummus ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Lamb can be used instead of beef for a more traditional flavor.
- For a smoother hummus, peel the chickpeas before blending.
