Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 oz penne pasta

Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter

Sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Extra grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season Chicken: Season the bite-sized chicken pieces with salt and black pepper evenly.
  3. Sauté Chicken: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken and sauté until fully cooked and golden brown on the outside, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  4. Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Make Sauce: Add the chicken broth, heavy cream, honey, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet with the sauce and stir well to coat the chicken evenly.
  7. Add Cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese into the sauce until it melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
  8. Toss Pasta: Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet and toss everything together to combine well and heat through.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese on top before serving. Serve hot for the best flavor.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
  • For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, but the sauce will be less creamy.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for best melting and flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with a crisp green salad or steamed vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
