Grilled Chicken & Beef Souvlaki Skewers

Juicy marinated chicken and beef skewers grilled to smoky perfection, finished with fresh herbs and a squeeze of lemon – a Mediterranean street food classic that’s perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Chicken Souvlaki:
  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs, cut into chunks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Beef Souvlaki:
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, cut into chunks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • To Serve:
  • Fresh chopped parsley
  • Lemon wedges
  • Extra oregano for garnish

Instructions

  1. In two separate bowls, combine the chicken and beef with their respective marinade ingredients. Mix well, cover, and marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavor).
  2. Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes if using.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers, and do the same for the beef.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the chicken skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and charred in spots.
  5. Grill the beef skewers for about 8–10 minutes, depending on your preferred doneness.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley, a sprinkle of oregano, and fresh lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For even more flavor, marinate the meat overnight.
  • Serve with pita, tzatziki, and a Greek salad for a complete meal.
  • Use metal skewers for easier grilling and no soaking required.
