- 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional: extra chocolate chunks for topping
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate chips together, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and slightly pale.
- Slowly mix in the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.
- Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just incorporated.
- Pour batter into the prepared pie crust and smooth the top. Add extra chocolate chunks on top if using.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is crackly and the center is set but still gooey.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving. Best enjoyed warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Let the melted butter-chocolate mixture cool slightly to avoid scrambling the eggs.
- Bake until just set in the center for a gooey texture—do not overbake.
- Great for making ahead—reheat slices briefly before serving for a melty center.
