Crispy Fried Goat Cheese Balls

Golden and crunchy on the outside, creamy and tangy on the inside—these fried goat cheese balls make an irresistible appetizer or snack. Serve them with honey drizzle, fig jam, or a tangy dipping sauce for a gourmet bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz goat cheese (chevre), chilled
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Optional: honey, fig jam, or balsamic glaze for serving

Instructions

  1. Scoop chilled goat cheese into tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls. Place on a plate and freeze for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Prepare a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with pepper and garlic powder.
  3. Roll each goat cheese ball in flour, then dip in egg, and coat with breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb steps.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat until hot (350°F / 175°C).
  5. Fry goat cheese balls in small batches for 2–3 minutes, turning until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with a drizzle of honey or your favorite dip.

Notes

  • Chilling the cheese helps maintain shape during frying.
  • Double coating ensures extra crispiness.
  • Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
