Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1 pound large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Rice

  • 1 cup jasmine rice

Sauce and Cooking Fats

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the Rice: Prepare the jasmine rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and set it aside to keep warm.
  2. Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until it becomes fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Place the shrimp in the skillet in a single layer. Season them with salt, black pepper, and optional chili flakes. Cook each side for 1-2 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the cooked shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Make the Creamy Herb Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Add the grated parmesan cheese and whisk continuously until the cheese fully melts and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Add Fresh Herbs and Simmer: Stir in the chopped fresh parsley and dill. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
  6. Assemble the Bowl: Spoon the cooked jasmine rice into serving bowls. Pour the creamy herb sauce generously over the rice, then top with the garlic butter shrimp. Garnish with additional chopped herbs if desired for extra freshness.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately while the dish is hot, creamy, and flavorful for the best experience.

Notes

  • For extra heat, increase chili flakes to taste or add a dash of hot sauce.
  • You can substitute jasmine rice with basmati or long-grain white rice if preferred.
  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor, but dried herbs can be used in a pinch (reduce quantity by half).
  • Ensure shrimp are not overcooked to maintain a tender texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
