- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 extra banana for topping, sliced
- 1/2 cup melted butter (or coconut oil)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Add cocoa powder and milk to one bowl and mix until fully incorporated.
- Alternate spoonfuls of the banana and chocolate batters into the prepared pan. Use a knife to gently swirl them together.
- Top with banana slices and chocolate chips.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and sweetness.
- Substitute butter with coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze slices for later.
