Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray it with non-stick cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the bars.
  2. Arrange the pretzels: Place the mini pretzel twists onto the prepared baking sheet in a single, even layer until the surface is completely covered with pretzels.
  3. Make the caramel: In a small pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter and add the packed brown sugar. Stir constantly and bring the mixture to a boil, then maintain a gentle boil for 3 minutes to create a rich caramel.
  4. Combine pretzels and caramel: Pour the bubbling caramel mixture evenly over the pretzels on the baking sheet. Don’t worry if some spots seem uncovered as the caramel will spread and even out during baking.
  5. Bake the caramel pretzels: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake at 325°F for 8 to 10 minutes, until the caramel is fully bubbling across the entire sheet.
  6. Add the chocolate: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot caramel layer. Return the sheet to the oven for 1 to 2 minutes to soften the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the chocolate: Using a spatula, gently spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel pretzel layer to create a smooth top.
  8. Chill and set: Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes to allow the bars to set and harden sufficiently for cutting.
  9. Serve: Remove the set bars from the freezer. Carefully peel off the aluminum foil and cut the slab into squares or break into pieces with a large knife or by hand. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • These bars store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, maintaining freshness and crunch.
  • For easier cutting, you can chill the bars longer if needed.
  • Make sure to stir the caramel constantly while boiling to prevent burning.
