Golden, crusty baguettes loaded with creamy garlic butter, gooey melted cheese, crispy bacon, and fresh chives—these over-the-top bread boats are the ultimate indulgent snack or crowd-pleasing party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 French baguettes, halved lengthwise
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Spread evenly over the cut sides of the baguettes.
  3. Optional: Spread a thin layer of cream cheese over the garlic butter for extra richness.
  4. Top with a generous layer of mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle chopped bacon evenly over the top.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are golden.
  6. Remove from oven, garnish with chopped chives, and slice to serve.

Notes

  • Use sourdough or ciabatta bread for a twist on texture.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven but can be reheated in a toaster oven.
