Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Filling:
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Topping:
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)
  • Dried parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Stir in warm milk, egg, and melted butter until a dough forms. Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll dough into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches).
  5. Mix softened butter with minced garlic and spread over the dough.
  6. Sprinkle evenly with cheddar, bacon, salt, and pepper.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log. Cut into 12 rolls.
  8. Arrange in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with chives, flaky salt, and parsley. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated before final rise.
  • Use freshly shredded cheddar for best melt and flavor.
